The best base for exploring the Cordillera Blanca is Huaraz, the capital of the department of Ancash. Huaraz is at an altitude of 3,800 meters, surrounded by majestic mountains.
Huaraz is a city that has the best view in the world, from the center of the city without much effort you can see impressive mountains like the Ranrapalca (6,162 mts), the Ocshapalca (5,888 mts), the Vallunaraju (5. 686 mts.), the Ishinca (5,530 mts.), the Copa (6,188 mts.), the Chopilcalqui (6,354 mts.) and there, a little further away, the Huascaran with its two summits (6,768 mts.) and the characteristic four peaks of the Huandoy (6,395 mts.).
